hello, I need advice on how to cheaply partition a largish bedroom into two areas for my boys (14 & 4) I've been thinking ikea style units down the middle, or curtains/bead curtains? does anyone have any inventive ideas how to go about it?

Saw a place in a magazine a while ago that had lovely modern bookshelves to split a studio into sleeping/sitting area. Sure this would work well. Think they might have been Ikea too!

thank you, that's the kind of thing I'm thinking about, I'll get on ebay and have a search.

Ikea expedit make good room dividers and lots of storage too

I came on to say the expedit units, they are fantastic.

Expidit shelves or a wardrobe one facing into each area - but the trick is to try and secure them to floor and ceiling - especially as 4 year olds like to climb usually ! - so a safer option is sliderobes fitted professionally half opening on one side and half opening on the other ! If you are in Dorset - there's a fab company called Lamco who could make that for you ! I've worked with them before - they are extremely professional !!!

It might just be cheaper to get a joiner in and put some stud walls up. It's not a big job. Why don't you get someone in for a quote?
