How to remove one panel of glass from an interior door.

Does anyone have any idea how to go about this without smashing it?

Our internal doors downstairs have 15 smallish rectangular panels of glass in each with wood crisscrossing between them (you can see I know the technical terms!). I'm trying to google if there's any way to do this but not having much luck. One thing suggested melting the putty with a steamer, but it doesn't feel like putty? It just feels like wood. It's painte with gloss paint so can see round the edges iyswim.

Cut the silicone (if there is any, unlikely) with a Stanley knife. It's probably just wooden beading if it's an internal door, so remove it by sliding a chisel or blade between the door and the bead (not the glass and bead), and lever it up in the middle so it bends and snaps out. There will be a nail in the centre. The other edges should be easier to remove.

Get a joiner to do it.

Can I ask why you want to take the glass out? I've recently being trying to put the glass panels back into a door they were removed from, and it was a nightmare! If you want to make the door opaque, you could fix a plywood panel over the glass instead - would be much easier and could be taken down at a later date if you wanted to go back to glass.

Beading is this stuff and pieces of it usually sit around each individual panel to hold them in place. Usually held in place by a single nail in the centre of each piece. Good luck!

Its a door that just leads to the (never used) side door and a downstairs toilet with a tiny little area between. I want to put the cat litter tray in there and take one of the bottom panels out so they can jump through. Its the only 'out of the way' location we have for the litter tray.
