Super king bed - where?

I've looked and looked and they either cost £1.5k or they are made of faux black leather.

I'm looking for elegant wood or metal bed with a footer, if that's the right word. Grey or mink or cream at a push.

Any knowledgeable sorts recommend one please?

Debenhams.
Warren Evans.

Do you mean 6' wide by 6'6" long ie standard ?! Or larger ?! If 6' standard than M&S, John Lewis, Laura Ashley have good selection - if longer/ wider Emperor size and above 'the big bed company' website has a good selection ! But pricey though ! :-)

I want a new super king for our new house too. this company look good, great reviews and British too :)
Otherwise check out eBay, there's some companies who sell on there and I've got my eye on a couple.

With a mattress too it is going to be more than £1k though I think... It's used every night though!

Take look at www.sofa.com

Despite the name they do beds too.

Lots of variety. Very elegant. Two different friends have both beds and sofas from them. Quality is good too.

MrsFlorrick · 02/08/2013 07:38

This one is metal and comes in super king. m.sofa.com/shop/beds/bronte

Keep looking in sales, we got our super king including amazing mattress for £1k from a carpet shop (maybe Allied Carpets, or Carpet Right) that also sells beds. It was the store model but a bit of a scrub came up well and we saved over £2k on it, it's the best thing we ever bought.

I know that Ikea beds are funny sizes, and we didn't originally want one for tha reason, but we eventually gave in because our favourite mattress was an Ikea so we needed a matching frame. Do you already have a mattress or do you need both frame and mattress?

FredKiller · 02/08/2013 08:37

We got ours from loaf.com.

Wide range of super king frames, about £700ish (but then you obviously have to factor in a mattress too so prob nearer £1.5k).

They have a showroom in north London, otherwise you have to go off the website pictures. We went to the showroom before buying ours and they were all lovely beds and great quality. We went for the Piper. Best money we spent, especially as DS has decided to spend the first few years of his life in there with us!

The company were great to deal with to. Good customer service re delivery etc.

John Lewis?
M and S?
John Lewis wooden furniture is excellent quality.

Periwinkle007 · 02/08/2013 12:52

ours is a divan with drawers in it so not a fancy bedstead BUT we paid £399 including delivery for it, new off ebay. has a 12inch deep mattress, can't remember the springs but it is sprung and then has a padded bit on top of that. We have had it 3 years now and it hasn't 'given' at all so mattress is still good. can't remember the seller though

WinkyWinkola · 04/08/2013 18:46

Now I can't decide!

Look at Newtons beds online
We have just bought the antoinette in cream in the superking
I appreciate it may be too fancy for some but with plain white bed linen I love it

littleomar · 04/08/2013 19:47

warren evans. pricey but worth it (we bought a double, then upgraded to a superking, and have also bought a child's bed and various bits of furniture). sales come round regularly.

littleomar · 04/08/2013 19:48

oh. possibly nudging £1.5k sorry didn't see that bit. not planning to buy another bed ever though.

WhisperingShadow · 04/08/2013 19:52

We are getting one from revival beds when I finnally sellmy house. Hand carved.

OfflineFor40Years · 04/08/2013 20:07

We had to get a slightly odd size to fit into the space in our room so we found a carpenter to make a bed to our spec in oak and then ordered a custom sized mattress from a local bedshop; it came to just under £1k in total. We love it. Grin
