In your experience? Dh wants leather. Wipe clean and all that.

What do you reckon? I've got 4 dcs so need big ones!

Any recommendations?

Leather is more practical I think

100% leather!

I've got leather and 4 DC between 9months and 5 yo and they're brilliant. We've had them about 4 years and they still look new.

Get leather with little ones

It is cold and I've just replaced mine with fabric but my youngest is 10

Probably leather unless you have cats.

I went with Ikea Ektorp - easily washable and replaceable covers! I have had friends whose leather sofas have been stabbed with sharp pencils.

I've had a cream, yes cream, fabric sofa, for 7or8 years now, DS is 5, It still looks good. Although its a bit grubby this week from moving house. Will wash the covers and it will look like new again.
It was from multiyork and has scotchguarded removable covers. If they were marked or damaged I can buy new covers easily. However I'm hoping that I'll not need to do that as so far they've even survived me having a massive bleed on them when pregnant (think horror film style) which cleaned up without a trace.
I might replace the covers when I want a change though.
Am going to buy a cheaper IKEA fabric sofa for playroom though but again with fabric covers.

Ikea Ektorp - leather may be wipe clean but as I spotted at an NCT meeting, there are still fabric bits underneath the cushions and when a two year old vomits on it, the fabric bits still get covered in sick which then can't be washed out. And it scuffs, which would drive me mad.

My covers are dark grey cotton, go in the washing machine every few months (or when something truly despicable happens to them) and still look lovely and new when they come out the tumble dryer (on low heat). We have the three seater with the sticky out bit, and the chaise to match on the other side of the room, but I had the 2+2 corner sofa and it was the DOGS. I loved that sofa. I lived on it practically when I was upduffed the first time. Was too big for our new living room though Sad
