When should we get the solicitor's report?

We are being pressurised by the EA to get the survey done however we haven't got the solicitor's report yet.

Should we get the report before we organise and pay for a survey? I imagine the house is okay.

Could you explain what it is that you're expecting from your solicitor and what country you are in? I've not heard of a solicitor's report. Solicitors do things like check ownership of the house and land searches (England and Wales) and then deal with the sale contract. I'd expect a survey to be the next thing that happens after your offer has been accepted and any mortgage agreed.

Jan, we're buying a house in England. The solicitor has told us that she will report on the house. I suppose it is a summary of all her findings.

I was wondering the same as Jan.

I'd clarify exactly what you're waiting for from your solicitor. The vendor's solicitor provides a contract pack with details about the property, and search results and titles etc will come through in due course, but your action now is getting the survey underway.

I agree, if you're waiting for the solicitor to do searches etc, you should be getting the survey done at the same time. If you wait until all the searches are done before arranging your survey, the whole process will take a very long time. Also, booking the survey will show your vendors a sign of your commitment.

The survey is much more likely to throw up concerns that the solicitor's report (unless this is a new build?). Get them done at the same time.
