We are selling and buying using this solicitor who is an a colleagues`s dh. He seems to talk the talk but I have pulled him up on a few errors e.g property address (twice) and fee he is charging. (and a few more mistakes). I want to tell him that I expect a lot more quality and attention to detail as he assured me he would give...but I haven't seen it yet. However I don't want to p him off. My dh thinks I need to ensure I do it without anger in my voice. But I am annoyed!!

Get dh to sack the solicitor.

Willow33 · 30/07/2013 13:22

I don't think that can happen as will b too expensive to pay him off and then pay another...

Why pay him off - if he's not doing his job properly ?

If he hasn't provided the service it would be a bit rich to charge you full fee (any fee?). I would pay for disbursements and go elsewhere - or threaten to do so, and hope he pulls his socks up.

Get your dh to call him and voice your dis-satisfaction. Why does it have to be you who calls?

Willow33 · 30/07/2013 15:00

Unexpected - have been doing most of the taking to him so far.
I just want him to pull up his socks and be more attentive. Just want to do it kindly!

He doesn't sound like a good friend or solicitor. Your dh's relationship obviously meant nothing to this Man, your dh brought him into the mix, he should politely sack him and stop causing stress at home.

Getting the address right is pretty basic stuff isn't it... But did you not agree a fee upfront and get it in writing?

How much are you saving by using him as opposed to an external company?

This is one of the pitfalls of getting friends to do work for you, I'm afraid.
