we are stripping back wall paper and removing built in furniture to display the original coat of paint for our 1980s house. I'm a bit disconcerted that the dirt is showing up the shape of the breeze blocks. that means there is no plasterboard etc between the walls and us.

is this normal and will we have an insulation issue come winter?

thanks

Hi
It sounds like it. You could easily have plaster board fitted and insulating stuff at that.

It's easy enough to do. And quite cheap.

Could it be that the breeze block wall was skim coated with plaster but very thinly so?

If you drill a small hole this will tell you what lurks beneath.
