Just looking for thoughts, heard lots of varying opinions on both and need to decide which to get.

Thanks :)

Black granite in our kitchen for 10 years. Looks almost new still. The only area that has any sign of change is the drain slots cut towards the sink. They have a slight grey on them. I think granite is supposed to be polished or sealed with some stuff every now and then. I never bothered so that may be why. Hardly noticeable under the dish rack with pots and pans drying over it.

We had granite in our last kitchen. I loved it. Really durable, it wasn't in bright sunlight so you didn't see every smear. We've been in our current house for five days and the corian needs resanding and polishing because its covered in scuffs and scratches from boxes being placed on it moving in.

I do like the look of the corian, its cream. I also like the fact we can do the repairs on it ourselves, but I thought it was a bit more durable than its proving to be so far.

I would rate them equally for pastry and dough making.

If your budget allows I would go with corrian

My granite has chips on the edges and around the under mounted sink and I feel like I spend my life polishing it!
