Grrrr! Chuffing Anglian Home Improvements!

Can anyone tell me if this is right?

Our UPVC back door has suddenly developed a problem with its hinges, meaning that I can neither open it or close it. DH can, just about, as he can muster a bit more brute force than me or the dcs.
When he's at work, i can't get outside to sort the washing, let the dcs run about or feed the guinea pigs. We're also off holiday soon & not sure how neighbours are going to manage to feed our pets.

Background: Bought our house a year ago, & former owner passed an all the paperwork to show she'd had the doors & windows fitted about two years previously by the aforementioned company. They're supposed to be under guarantee for 15 sodding years, but Anglian are refusing to honour this, as we've not transferred it into our names. I asked if it was possible to transfer it over, then get a call-out but i've been told that would be the equivalent of breaking a limb, then trying to get insurance.

Are they right? I would have assumed that the guarantee would be valid for this address for the fixed period stated, regardless of who owns the house, but it seems i've got that wrong. We really can't afford to pay hundreds of pounds in call-out charges this month.

Thanks for reading.

outrageous. Escalate it - you weren't to know that the name had to be changed, and clearly it is still the same house.

MummytoMog · 22/07/2013 11:03

Escalate - although we eventually found it impossible to get the dodgy mofo cowboys who fitted the double glazing to our house to honour the ten year guarantee (lots of failed units), we were dealing with a two bit enterprise. There's a bit more head room to play with at a big company, try and find a contact for their head office to talk to, and if you don't get any satisfaction, then threaten them with publicity.

Thanks for that . I'm just off to get dd from nursery but will try to escalate when i get back.

Anglian are members of the 'GGF' who operate a free conciliation service.

Hi,

My name is Louie, I work for Anglian Home Improvements as part of their online team. We are sorry to hear of this issue with your back door, and we would like to resolve this matter as soon as possible for you.

It is possible for the guarantee to be transferred, which is normally dealt with by solicitors as part of the conveyancing.

I believe you have spoken to our customer service representative and the issue is being resolved.

Thanks

Very useful, thanks i'll use GGF as Anglian are not guaranteeing my leaking conservatory that has leaked ever since it was constructed.
