E7? Really?

The estate agent grapevine suggests Forest Gate 'Village' as a future property hotspot? I am thinking REALLY? Not much going on there now apart from a few nice(ish) streets and a dodgy high street a la 'chicken village'... What are people's views on this? Anyone living there already?

as far as I know e7 is a "RED AREA" I.e has the highest crime rate in East London. maybe things have changed now since the street clear up for Olympics! I still wouldn't live there though but that's just me.

I visit an elderly lady who lives there in council housing. When I go there, I take out some of the contents of my handbag before the trip in case someone grabs my bag. I always breathe a sigh of relief when I reach Liverpool St Station again. This lady used to walk home from a friend's in the evenings but was attacked twice, by someone who grabbed her handbag and knocked her down, and once when she went home by taxi for safety someone tried to grab the taxi driver's takings off him as she got out of the taxi. She doesn't go out in the evenings now. She's had people at the door a number of times with excuses to try to get in.

Having said that, she has a small friendly and supportive community of neighbours. But no, the only moving I'd do in connection with E7 is AWAY. Wink

Hey people, thanks for that. It sounds awful, but at least it saves us some time looking for a house there. The prices sounded too good to be true!
