Beautiful but extortionate tiles, do you know any alternatives?

We are in the process of buying a 1930s house (fingers crossed). We would like a beautifully tiled hallway and have seen these tiles (Romanesque at the bottom with the dog in the photo) but just had a quote of £4k for a space of 8 x 2.5 metres (just for the tiles, fitting would be on top)

If anyone knows of anything similar but cheaper please post here.

That sounds about right for encaustic tiles, sorry. You can get digitally printed tiles which are cheaper, but not nearly as beautiful. Or you could see if you could find reclaimed tiles in a yard, but quality would be variable and it might be difficult to find 20m2...

Fired Earth are beautiful, but will be about the same. SO BEAUTIFUL.

I was going to suggest mandarin Stone as they do some almost identical. Until I saw the price. They come out at almost £2k more than your ones.

Where are you? There are some good alternatives in London. Emerie et Cie are beautiful, although I find the site difficult to navigate. Or there is this place in Camden, which came out as significantly cheaper than Fired Earth when we were looking. They have designs in stock and bespoke designs so you can choose the colours.

i would also say fired earth but they are very expensive. even if you get them on sale.

What about getting the original ones reclaimed? There is company called reclaimedtilecompany.com and they have a beautiful selection, but again, they may work out as expensive in the end.

Hey, I'm reading Real Homes and there's an ad in it for a place called Tons of Tiles, where the Victorian looking tiles seem to be cheaper, around £30 a metre. Maybe worth a look?

I've been looking a bit for reasonably priced encaustic tiles. This place and go be a bit better value, particularly for the ones in stock.
