Fuel oil - does anyone buy "aga" grade oil

Just phoned to order an oil delivery and the guy wanted to sell me "aga" grade oil rather than standard kerosene - at about 4p/litre more expensive.

I said no thanks, but am wondering if anyone thinks it's worth paying extra for this new fangled stuff.

I don't have an Aga any more, but when I did it drank the same oil as my boiler does now, so I doubt yours will come to any harm. Was it like extra-high octane petrol being sold to Joe Punto?

My Granma has agar grade oil never had a prob she's had it since she had her house built good 50years ago.

Intrigued now, I found this, which specifies that the oil to be used MUST BE "BS2869:Class C2" and nothing else. Further googling suggests that's bog-standard kerosene heating oil. I wonder what "justifies" the 4p difference? Confused

That's my point OldLadyKnowsNothing. For the last 5 years, we have managed fine on standard kerosene but recently, when I phone up to order a delivery, some firms want to sell me this extra special oil which is formulated to get the best performance out of your Aga Hmm.

I'm assuming it's the same sort of deal as extra-high octane petrol but I'm not convinced it's worth 4p more.

This is interesting, wonder if "Aga grade" has this additive in it already?

I wonder if it gets you kerosene ( red diesel) with no bio fuel content. bio fuel content is havoc on small bore pipes and filters.

We use the additive and DH is convinced it improves the performance. He did a geeky trial where he alternated a tank with/without additive.
