Anyone live in Plaistow, East London?

Just viewed a property we like, about 5 minutes walk from District Line station. Area seemed quiet, which is good, and off main road.

Does the area feel safe? Where would the nearest big supermarket be? Morrisons in Stratford? Any good pubs for a quiet, non-scary pint? Any other nuggets of info?

Thanks Smile

I grew up there.

Great transport links with the district, central, jubilee and dlr a short bus ride away.

Many of the pubs have closed down, but there are loads of nice places in Westfield Stratford and docklands.

Forgot to add, the pronunciation....

Locals call it plar-stow but outsiders (including the recorded voice I the tube) say play-stow.

just make sure you aren't right by the football ground - or if you are plan to be out on Saturday afternoons!

Thanks chanie44 - I used to work in Newham so knew about the pronunciation variations!

Do you mean West Ham football ground steppemum - no, not near there!
