Moving to Farnborough Green - Good or Bad Idea?

Hi everyone,
I am planning to move out of London with my 2 year old to start a proper family life somewhere quiet, with nice schools and things to do with kids, Camberley and Farnborough seem affordable, there is an outstanding school in Farnborough green and a Football Club but apart from this I know nothing about the area? Does anyone know if its a nice place to move in with a family, with nice parks, forest, playgrounds and kids activities, playgroups close by?
Many Thanks
Betty&Max

farnborough has a massive airport which hosts the Farnborough air show every two years....

Apart from that, there is an excellent leisure centre, lots of green space on your doorstep...shopping is good at the Meads, and you are only 10 mins from Camberley, which has cinemas and a theatre.

There are plenty of playgroups around the area, a fantastic playpark at King George V park, excellent private boys and girls schools, and one of the top 6th form colleges in the country. Easy access to the M3 and the M4 as well as the A3. Housing is reasonable for the area.

You could also look at Hawley, Mytchett, even Ash/ Ash Vale.

On the downside, there is a lot of development happening in neighboring ALdershot and church crookham, (many thousands of houses planned). Many of the local schools have transitory populations from the army based in ALdershot. There is a shortage of senior school places. Certain senior schools have very large immigrant populations, which has brought all sorts of BNP sentiments to the fore.

Thanks for your reply, this sounds good! But are there better and worse areas there, I was told recently that it is better not to live in Old Dean area of Camberley as it is really poor and a lot of council houses there, is it also the case in Farnborough Green?

We bought a house in Camberley last year and love it here. We're on the Frimley side. Great facilities for both adults and kids - soft play centre, cinema, bowling, leisure centre, theatre, sports clubs, go karting, parks, great shopping centre and nice restaurants. Lots of pretty countryside nearby and there's also a monthly farmers market. Lots of young families in the area too.

Also, I should have said I don't know much about Farnborough Green, sorry. But I noticed it's very close to Frimley Green which is a nice village and there is a brilliant park there that we go to often with our son:

Thank you sats, yes I heard about Camberley being full of family facilities and a nice shopping center;) Beautiful countryside we have noticed driving about also we like the forest east side from Mytchet, my concern is if there is anything to do within walking distance as I got used to walk or cycle everywhere here in Ealing, plenty things to do on my doorstep and so worried I will stuck somewhere with nothing to do apart from my own garden, I am driving but my LO hates it and I avoid it as much as I can also I am expecting another child in Feb and can't even imagine driving with two;O. My son was so difficult until he was about a year that I carried him in a sling/carrier almost everywhere, couldn't stand him crying in the buggy or a car seat, so it is quite important for me to be able to walk here and there as long as there is where, if you know what I mean;) I might just learn how to cope with distance if I have to;)))
Also where do I find out about the catchment areas in Farnborough/Frimley?
Thank you so much
Betty

What's wrong with council houses?! If you don't like them you don't want to come to farnborough, I live in a council house and it is a safe friendly street with lots of lovely people

Also if the school you are talking about is Parsonage Farm it is really excellent but lots of council house kids go there as they do most of the schools in farnborough,
