Darker colour above or below dado? and colours to go with Down Pipe

Hi all
I have been planning painting my lounge for months now but the builders are still in so I'm over thinking it some more!

Was going to go Down Pipe F&B all over with strong white or slipper satin woodwork. Am now considering putting back the dado (previous owners got rid but there is still a dado in the hall and up the stairs)

Would I paint the dark grey above or below? And does anyone have an suggestions of what might go with Down Pipe?

IN the hall way they painted something like cornforth white below the dado and white above, but I always thought the darker one went on top?

Also, we are thinking of some wallpaper in the hall, should this go above or below?

Thanks!

I prefer darker under but it depends on the room and how you want it to feel.
See this advice on the subject.

The darker colour below the dado feels more natural and "grounded". You can do what you like but having the darker colour above may cause a bit of tension. This can be good or bad, only you can decide.
