Can I put fridge freezer in a cupboard?

We have a large larder with a louvre door. Is there any reason we can't put our fridge freezer in there? Someone suggested to me that it could overheat, but aren't a lot of fridge freezers built into cupboards these days?

We have ours in our pantry cupboard. Our microwave is in there too as I hate stuff on my surfaces. And there are shelves in there too for non-perishable foodstuff. If there is a problem with overheating I'd better redesign my kitchen Grin

Built in appliances appear to have a ducted vent to the front so are designed to have the back/ sides enclosed. Built in microwaves usually have a big vent above or alongside them.

I've built things in before but allowed extra air space round them so my built under fridge (under an island unit) has an air gap behind it and vent holes through the wine rack behind it on the island. The back panel benefits from an annual vacuum/ wipe down - don't know where the dust comes from.

My microwave is sort of built in but not tightly so air can reasonably circulate.
