What sort of paint on brickwork in conservatory? Or not at all?

The conservatory in our new house hasn't been painted inside so the walls are just the bare brickwork same as the outside of the house. Its a 70s house so its not very interesting brickwork.

I'm wondering what type of paint I should use? I'm thinking it would need to be masonry paint? But I'm wary of all the chemicals in it as the conservatory is where all DD's toys are..

I'm also a tiny bit concerned that it would actually look horrible painted for some reason and I wouldn't be able to go back! I just can't entirely visualise it for some reason. Any thoughts?

Ours was bare brick for a while and then we got it plastered. if you can stretch to it, I'd definitely recommend it, it looks so much better than bare brick, painted or not.

We just can't unfortunately. I've seen some masonry paint that I can buy with my Tesco vouchers but any other paint will probably have to be bought at a car boot sale, that is the extent of our budget! There's too much stuff further up the list of priorities for this house.

Someone linked on here a while ago to watering down paint and whitewashing brickwork to knock back the colour. That would give you a fast improvement. Plastering would be the nicest though.

My mum is in a 60's built house painted her brick walls cream.It looks so much better.
She got quick drying paint and did it in the summer so lots of ventilation.I think the paint was by Ronseal.

Ooo, I'd not thought of pinterest. I've never used it and after having a quick look I think I may be lost there for some time! The white washing looks great.
