Getting new toilet soon, any recommendations for one that will actually have a decent flush?

Hi,
We are about to get a new toilet fitted. I am sick to death of cleaning everyone elses poo off our current toilets which just don't seem to flush properly (even though one of them is quite new). I know its gross but I really want one that will actually clean the bowl a bit rather than just flushing it away. Anyone recommend one - its not something you can find out about until its too late otherwise!

Sorry, no advice, but marking my place as we're having the same dilemma!

I need a new loo as well and want one that will last.

I've done a little bit of research and know I don't want one with a button flush (apparently they don't last as long as lever handles).

One plumber recommended this one.

According to our plumber, no cludgies work now, due to European water saving directives.
I feel your poo-pain.

if the cistern has a syphon in it, you can get an improved flush by changing it to a Flapper Valve. The cistern has to be removed to do it as the fixing nut goes on from underneath. If you have an old and worn cistern that needs several tugs at the handle it is IMO worth changing to a flapper anyway. If it ever gets worn the working parts can be changed without removing the cistern again.

you can sometime also adjust the float and get an extra inch or so depth of water in the cistern. If it has an internal overflow it might have been cut too short to permit this.

If you ever have to take a cistern off, get stainless nuts and bolts to re-fix it to the pan. If you ever have to take a cistern off you will know why.

We actually have that loo jidget, but with button flush, it's no better than our others :(.

Overhead cistern and chain flush are the most powerful. We've just changed a loo from that to button flush, the cleaning aspect (everyone does their own though) has massively increased.

Rules now dictate how much water can be used for a flush - it is currently 6 litres. More expensive brands do research into how best to direct 4 litres for optimum poo removal.

Salvage yards will have older higher volume toilets.

you can still get a "low level WC" where the cistern is raised a little higher so has a bit flow power. It too will be improved withg a flapper.
