Have just ordered biothanol conversion kit for Victorian fireplace

Have just ordered this this for my Victorian fireplace to take the chill off in the evenings as an alternative to coal and logs. :)

We have this. It gives out no heat and smells horrible,can't wait to sort the chimney and have a real fire.

is this an "ornamental" item which releases the fumes and water vapour into the room, or does it vent up the chimney?

It should vent up the existing chimney. Essentially, it is something we intend to use during the summer (on a chilly evening) for a visual effect and to take the chill off. I will update once it arrives.
