Vendor now has nowhere to move to!

To cut a long story short the rented house our vendor was due to move into has fallen through. We were told this a couple of weeks ago and as we'd heard nothing more, we presumed this was resolved.
We should be completing tomorrow but the vendors EA has just told us that the vendor still has nowhere to move to and is looking at a property this afternoon!
I'm waiting on both our solicitors and the estate agent to get back to us with some answers.

Has this even happened to anyone else? What can we do now?
I feel sick with worry not knowing what on Earth is going on!

Have you exchanged or was that all supposed to happen on the same day?

if you have exchanged, the vendor needs to get out on completion or they are liable for some very big money paid to you.

Rental properties can be found quickly, meantime there is storage and hotels.

don't wait on answers, get on the phone and keep calling hourly.

They have to get out ! Make sure your solicitor is aware and insists on vacant possession.
