Anyone bought the house next door/across the road?

If so how did it feel?
House directly across the road has just come onto the market and we are viewing on Saturday - seems a bit odd. The owner sadly died recently and it's not lived in so that's ok but if I bought it how will I feel living opposite my old home?

I would have loved to have bought the house across the road- it's gorgeous. Same sort of story, the old man died. We used to see him pottering about in the evening (he always forgot to shut his blinds). Sadly it was waaaaay out of our price range. The people that bought it did it up and they too forget to shut their blinds so we can see them enjoying their seemingly perfect designer life. :) If you like the house, go for it.

Thanks for the reassuring words. I've been in the downstairs and love it but not been upstairs. The garden is very small but otherwise it has the extra space we would like. However, DH not as keen as I am as it needs a good bit of work and he is only just finishing our current house!
Our house isn't even on the market as until this came up we hadn't thought seriously about selling, so even if we love it it may come to nothing.

We did this last year, though we had been renting previously.

It was a huge bonus knowing the neighbours in advance rather than moving somewhere new, also made it a very easy move as everything simply walked across. It did feel weird for a bit and we still end up comparing the features of each property as although a similar build there are quite a few differences.

We moved 4 doors down the road about 3 years ago. Don't regret it at all. This house is much bigger and far better suited to us and we like the area. BIL/SIL did a similar thing (moved a minute down the same road) to get extra space so it might not be as unusual as you think.

Well we'll see what we think on Saturday but I reckon DH won't go for it as we don't NEED to move at the moment but a bigger kitchen would be lovely.
