Re-edging a wool rug

I have a lovely wool rug that has been going strong for 25 years. Sadly our latest puppy has managed to chew the overbound edge - it was oversewn all round the edge with a matching woollen thread. Where can I take it for repair and what is this type of repair called - I have a vague notion that there is a technical term for this?

Whipping I think. Or tape binding. I think some carpet shops do it, or mobile carpet fitters.
