anyone moved further out of a village and regretted it?

Just that really - there are two properties for sale in a little collection of houses just about another mile outside of the village we live in. At the moment we live very close to a corner shop, post office, chemist, and about equidistant from the nursery and school (DDs are 6 and 3) - all these things would certainly still be accessible, but a 10/15 minute walk or 2 minute drive away.

Also, the walk involves a grit path beside a rural A road or a dirt path through some fields, also used by a couple of other houses.

I think I'd be willing to compromise for the additional space we'd get, and the stunning views. plus DH is a drummer and I feel sure that being away from a very residential area would surely be a good thing if he's to practice at home. But he's worried about pulling out into the road and would take some convincing - so before I even try to persuade him, I thought I'd see if anyone else had some perspective on this?

anyone moved that bit further out and wished they hadn't? Or who hates having to drive more often for school run/pint of milk? I find it really difficult to anticipate what it will be like anyway when the girls are older in terms of school runs, meeting with friends etc - I wonder if living on the outskirts would make all that tricky or if we would just work around it?

insights/opinions very welcome Smile
