Anyone had a new gas connection put in recently?

...just wondering how much it cost. I've had a quick look at the National Grid website but just wanted a quick ballpark price if you happen to have an idea please? Wondering whether to book a viewing of a big old house that has oil fired central heating Smile

Ive just had a quote for a gas connection in Scotland. I did it on the sgn website, house is less than 40m from the main road & gas pipes. £729.60 inc VAT and excavation work. That's just for the connection, I haven't had any quotes for putting in heaters, boiler etc, anyone any idea how much it would cost to put in all the internals in a small 2 bed cottage?

Thanks, that helps. Sorry I can't help with your question!

I got the same quote fairy! Do you know how long it takes after accepting the quote to get it all installed?

no sorry DrHolmes, I have put off having the gas installed as Ive blown my annual budget on rewiring and new kitchen! still need to double glaze and get a quote for boiler & heaters..... fell like this "little project" is turning into a money pit!

Southern gas use SGN and the cost depends on whether there is a gas pipe already in the road. If not, the cost will be prohibitive. If there is gas in the road, its a fixed price of £920.

Depending on who you are then using (Npower/BGas etc) it can take anything from 3-12 weeks to get it connected.

We then paid £2600 for boiler, radiators etc in a 2 bed terrace.
