We're renovating the kitchen and downstairs bathroom. This means we can now replace the ratty, pale, stained, beetle-eaten fitted carpet that runs through the front room, corridor, stairs and all four bedrooms. Forget the bedrooms.
The thing is this. The front room is the corridor to the back of the house. There is no hall. This means it gets constant traffic.
Would it be better to have timber floors (there already in all other downstairs rooms) and rugs? thinking of runners for corridors and stairs.
Or a really good carpet that can take the hammer?
Final bit of info, the front room with the ratty carpet and lots of traffic has cedar-lined walls. So it's brown, but with high ceilings, skylights and one long wall is floor to ceiling windows. No, we're not going to paint the walls white/cream, etc. but keeping the feel of the original design.
