We have decided to bite the bullet and replace our Clearview inset stove in our family room with a freestanding one. The room is about 28ft by 13ft and has a high ceiling and 3 outside walls. Plus it is an old outbuilding so think stone walls and poorly insulated (except the attic). And we're in Scotland so it's mostly just bloody freezing.
The clearview just didn't heat it enough unless it was on for about 4 hours- partly due to poor installation.
We really wanted a convecting stove as we have one in the kitchen but I can't find any that are over 8kw and we need at least 9kw and possibly more.
The other alternative is a high output radiant one. I like the look of the Dru78 - does anyone have a Drugasar? Any good? It is really heavy - which I'm a bit worried about- 250kg.
Anyone have any recommendations? We have been over and over the internet and I know our stove guy will talk and talk and talk and then send us away with a billion brochures and we'll be no further forward. Or he'll recommend the bugliest one on the market- he has an eye for the gaudy.
