Lovely little house in a lovely French town, but OMG! The MESS!!!

I dragged my DH to my old home town this weekend in the hope he'd fall in love and agree to move there one day and have just been looking at property prices to get an idea of what's currently available, at what price.

I clicked on this, thinking it was my old house (it isn't), but OMG! The mess!!! Shock

Why would anyone allow pics of their house looking like this to be put online? I would be so Blush

Meh, I've seen far worse. Found myself last Christmas looking round a house with shit smeared on the walls, and swastikas carved into other walls. Cigarettes stubbed out on the floor, all sorts.

You'd be surprised. I've seen much worse during my rightmove addiction.

Saying that - the last house we bought was delightful, but the estate agents photos were appalling. Linen baskets on bed. Unmade beds. Random clutter and mess. The actual house was ace and we were able to see past the mess. PLus it reminded me of my childhood home Blush. Can't beat a bit of clean washing waiting to be sorted to remind me of home.

Swastikas? Good grief! I can't even imagine.

We've had our house on the market for almost a year now and it's not selling, despite decent pictures, so I guess I'm just amazed that others are so blasé about it all.

I am, however, quite pleased at how low the prices are in my old town, compared with what I was expecting!

Omg those moving pictures! Why do they do it??

underthemountain · 11/06/2013 11:34

I think sometimes photos are like this because the properties are rented out and the tenants have nothing to profit from tidying up etc.

vitaminC · 11/06/2013 14:15

under I think you're probably right about that! But even as a tenant, I wouldn't want someone coming in to photograph my home in that state Hmm

true!

I'm more shocked that the photographer doesn't spend five minutes moving things around to disguise the mess.

Mintyy · 11/06/2013 19:51

Couldn't agree more lala! I am feeling that I could start making my living as a cheap freelance house photographer type person, although I fully realise that most agents just use their most junior member of staff, running around between other more important appointments, to take their photos :)

It's not that bad, you can see the floor!
