Utility room & downstairs loo - dark steel grey paint?

Our utility room and downstairs loo are at the back of the house and you have to walk through the utility room to get to the garden. It isn't very wide so I am thinking about painting them dark steel/slate grey as I reckon they are are going to get bashed and muddy from the children and drunk house guests....the units in the utility room and loo are white so it won't be too dark. I am envisaging galvanised metal/industrial things. Although more than likely will be stashed with empty bottles of wine before they get taken to the recycling centre...
The kitchen however is a bit 'country'. Not really my style but quite new so we can't afford to change it with all the other things we need to do. Will it all clash or doesn't it matter. There is a glass door between kitchen and utility room. The kitchen stuff is mainly orla kiely to try and detract from the kitsch ness of it...
Anyone else painted a loo or utility room dark grey?

It'll look good.
It doesn't matter what the kitchen is really - it's another room Smile

I'm thinking of painting my downstairs loo dark grey. We have a white suite, so I was thinking it would be ok, but dh is concerned about making a small space look smaller. I've just tested Dulux perfectly taupe, misty mountain and warm pewter, and would love to go with the warm pewter, but think my conservative dh would prefer the lighter, more neutral colours. Woodwork (skirting, window frames and door) is currently stained dark brown (previous owners - we moved in 8 months ago) so am wondering what to do about that... but go for grey, sounds good to me Smile

If going grey on the walls IMO woodwork should be white or even darker grey

happynappies (nice name) I've got my main bathroom painted dark grey with a white loo and sink and white tie f&b woodwork (including panelling). The bath is a rolltop with a bottle green exterior and I have bottle green tiles in the shower. It looks fab, really striking.

Will have a look at that colour, thank you Calamity - nice name also. Do you know I've been on Mumsnet donkeys years and nobody has ever commented on my name Shock. Your bathroom sounds lovely - I think a bold colour like your bottle green sounds perfect to go with the grey. I wondered about yellow too?

It might be envy on my part, my daughter is producing teething poo at a rate of knots. No happynappies in this house right now.
