Non-creaky bed?

I've got two nice single mattresses that I'd like to turn into a superking bed (to replace our current superking mattress as each time one of us rolls over we wake the other. Plus the base is creaky). I need to buy a base that won't creak and I don't know whether to go for two separate bases for each bed and just push them together, or get one big one. And also whether to go for the divan type or wooden.

Help! Please can someone recommend something?

a creaky bed is often because the bolts need tightening up. Bases are made in several pieces which are bolted together. If you take the mattress off and have a look you will probably see them. They may need an Allen key or a spanner, and you may need to hold both ends. Look especially at the corners and where any legs attach.

There is a special nut used for beds which looks like a mushroom head so there are no sharp edges to knock against

Thanks - we've got a divan base at the moment though and it seems to creak from the boards at the top as opposed to anywhere else. Although I guess I may be confusing that with noise from the mattress

Wooden slats and quality mattress

cosmo is there a particular make I should go for or are the wooden ones pretty much all the same? Thanks

I have a friend with a family Furnishing business, he tells me he recommends Slumberland and always get them for his own home. I don't know if they do slatted bases though, the last one I got from him was a firm-edge divan with drawers.
