Made.com's Jonah sofa vs Sofa.com Saturday sofa

The Jonah - it looks utterly gorgeous - but what is the quality like? It seems too cheap to be true.

The Saturday seems nice too although perhaps not as nice, but I've heard the quality is excellent. It is a lot more expensive too.

I have three children under 5. Which one shall I go for? And considering that I live in the North, is it necessary to travel all the way to London to go to the showrooms, do you think?

They are both lovely, I think, personally, I prefer the Saturday, it is still über stylish but a little more classic where the Jonah could date?

MinimalistMommi · 01/06/2013 11:49

Links?

Do they have Removable Washable Covers?
I wouldn't consider a sofa that doesn't.

VivaLeBeaver · 01/06/2013 17:24

I couldn't buy a sofa without sitting on it first. What if its really uncomfy?

Chubfuddler · 01/06/2013 17:25

They both come on approval

The Saturday definitely. The Jonah looks like a waiting room settee.

Sofa.com quality is fantastic, all their sofas are super comfy. Made.com have lovely styles but 2 ses of friens who have bought sofas from them have been very disappointed.

I love the Saturday and sofa.com quality is good. I think made.com looks great but you pay for the cheap price tag with the fabrics. I can't remember what's on the Jonah but others I've looked at are always weird mixes with synthetics which won't wear anywhere near as well.

CajaDeLaMemoria · 01/06/2013 19:49

We went to look at the Johan last weekend, coincidentally.

Didn't like it. I didn't think it looked like the website: it had a much more dated appearance, and wasn't comfortable. They offered us 10% in the store when we said it was uncomfortable, but we didn't take it.

So I'd go with the Saturday. The difference in price is worth it for the drastic difference in quality and comfort.

I like the Jonah but not so keen when the fabric swatch arrived. The Saturday is more classic, but I prefer a MCM sofa. How about barbican from John Lewis? I sat on it the other day and it was amazingly comfortable. Being John Lewis you get great customer service and it can be made in all sorts of different fabrics. The G plan sofas they have were great too.

Herhonesty · 02/06/2013 13:09

Dont like the made sofa, Saturday looks nice but would be wary about buying a sofa with a hard/upholstered back, we have one and was a big mistake, always need a cushion to make it comfy.

mosaica · 02/06/2013 20:41

Thank you, everybody, I think the consensus is to avoid the Jonah and so for the Saturday. Pareymortas, i like the Barbican but for some reason my husband doesn't. Will try and find the time to in to their London showroom, but it really is a massive trek from here.

Sorry to be the voice of doom, but our sofa.com sofa has been shit. Comfy enough but the shape went longago (think it is 3/4 years old now) and it looks awful. I have to cover it in throws now if people come round.

PareyMortas · 02/06/2013 22:50

I'm in the North, but luckily have one only ten minutes drive away. Is London really your nearest?

mosaica · 03/06/2013 06:43

I thought they only had one showroom in London! Do they have one in the north? Where?? Xxx
