Hi Ladies,

The fridge freezer is built in and stopped working,it was here when we moved in so unsure of the age of it.Now we are looking into buying a new one but a bit unsure we have the recess dimensions but thats it.

Do we need one that fits perfectly?
Do we need one that is the recess dimensions size?

Thanks in advance.

Built-in are a bit of a nuisance. Freestanding are (almost) all the same width and depth so slide in and out easily. They are also better value.

If you want a built-in to match, yes, you will need to measure the old one (or look it up on the manufacturer's website). It will almost certainly be 600mm wide.

It is possible that you will not now be able to get new doors to fit the new one.

p.s.

if the not-working machine has a frost-fre freezer, they often stop working if the internal ducts become choked with ice. Empty it and cook or eat the food, turn it off at the plug and leave the doors open for at least 24 hours or until water stops dripping inside or round the back before you turn it back on.
