Old Woking - How bad?

Hi Mums,

We are currently living in Woking Kingfield area on Claremont Avenue in a rented apartment. Now planning to buy a house in Woking. I work in London and hence don't want to move too far away from station.
We are interested in buying one of the "new houses" recently built in Old Woking area (rydens way). But I am reading here and there that Old Woking is one of the worst places of Woking which is freaking me out. I want to know why is it not considered a good area? Are there any specific reasons one should avoid living in this area ? Please note I have a 8 months old baby too so would need good nursery/day care around my home too. Please guide in that respect too.

Thanks,
Mariam

Bear in mind school catchments. I know it seems ages away, but unless you want to move again in the next 3 years, you will need to be in the right place for the school you want. You can look on the Surrey CC school admission website for information.

Re Old Woking - if you are already living in Kingfield then you can wander over and make up your own mind! Don't listen to the views of people on the internet who don't currently live in the area.
