Picket fence and trellis, what colour?

Hello,

Wasn't sure whether to post this here or on the, decorating or gardening threads.

After getting a puppy I'm finally having to sort out myfencing, so I'm having a picket fence put in front of the conifers and a high trellis to split my front garden from the back.

I'd like to paint these but not sure whether to go white, green so it disappears into the bushes or something more interesting.

Does anyone have any nice suggestions?

Old English green is a colour that disappears. Have you thought about black?

What make paint is that?

The house is a cottage and the garden pretty shady (because of the conifers), so I'd worry black would make it darker.

We did ours in a browny grey. Think it was Farrow & Ball Mouse? We then grew ivy creeper on it so that in the summer it was all green with leaves and in winter the bare ivy branches just blended in. Looked very nice! I would only grow the ivy in containers though to avoid it taking over the whole garden.
