Moving with white goods, is that daft?

We like our stuff, well made and don't want to let it go for £20 a pop but in terms of logistics of moving is this just foolish?
Do removal firms charge a fortune to take them out and worried about the fridge, is it not a bit dodgy to moving them.

no, we took ff & washer when we moved. emptied ff the day before, didn't need to do anything else. would have taken dishwasher, but new house had one built in. removal firm didn't appear to charge anything extra for them, it wasn't mentioned, other than to ask 'are you taking this' as we went round the house.
they were all free standing though, not built in. I would expect to leave built-in appliances.

We brought all appliances with us, have never had integrated ones anyway.

The removal firm didn't charge extra. We managed to detach the washing machine and dishwasher ourselves and should have been able to re plumb them ourselves but had a small issue with the dishwasher that a plumber fixed in five minutes for us.

I have always taken my white goods when moving house, including fridge, never had any problems. Removal firms I have used haven't batted an eyelid and afaik haven't charged any more. Check if they are able to disconnect washing machines, dishwashers etc though, and I'd imagine gas cookers would need doing by a gas professional.

Yip, they are all freestanding, we bought them and installed when we moved here. That'S reassuring, some of the offers we had here they wanted all our furniture and white goods which EA said was common now...

We are in an apartment building though so they have to heave it down three flights of stairs

This is really assuring, our new place has very old stuff and I am fond of our twins - matching washing and dryer! No gas appliances, just washer, dryer and our fabulous fridge

Unless it's something that fits that space particularly well, but you'd ant something bigger or more practical (or not 10 years old) in your new kitchen, take them. Even if you were charged more for removals, it would be less than replacing them all.

We brought washing machine, dishwasher and fridge freezer with us when we moved 10 years ago and (fingers crossed) they are all still working! Don't remember it affecting the removal quote, I think they are fairly approximate anyway aren't they?

Left the cooker, which worked out well as that was the only appliance left in our new house.
