Kitchen Floor to compliment parquet floor

We're trying to find a kitchen floor for our new kitchen-diner. Needs to be able to fitted over underfloor heating.
The new room will be open-plan with the existing dining room, which has parquet floor. This is quite dark at the moment, but we're sanding it back so should end up as a light reddish-brown.

Other things about the room; it's north-west facing, but will have a wall of glass and roof lights; the kitchen units will be a light grey, with a white corian top. Kitchen splashback will be white metro tiles. Island will possibly be in <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.littlegreene.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/thumbnail/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/f/i/file_23_2.jpg&imgrefurl=www.littlegreene.com/polar-blue&h=450&w=600&sz=63&tbnid=x-_udsN2c4qYZM:&tbnh=96&tbnw=128&zoom=1&usg=__-QFeoJWISPZ1t8lr_VckAlKJQuo=&docid=8iAVOvvw5hD7-M&sa=X&ei=FyuSUdCBMomvPKLrgcAI&ved=0CDgQ9QEwAQ&dur=421" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Little Greene Polar Blue.

Would like polished concrete, but costs too much. DH has suggested grey travatine, but wonder if that will look too farmhouse-y.

Any suggestions? I'm having real trouble deciding, and it's the last (and most expensive!) element of decoration to decide.

Thank you!

We've got a mottled creamish porcelain large format tile next to a oak floor and it looks very smart as well as being very practical.

What about one of the Amtico tiles? Expensive, but it's good and there is a fantastic choice of finishes!
