How much roughly does it cost to have electrics tested?

We have been advised to have the electrics tested on the house we are buying. Anyone know roughly how much this might be? The house was re wired 15 years ago.

If the house was rewired 15 yearsvago, there will be issues even if the system is safe and functioning. It won't meet today's standards whiCh is what the electrician has to test against.

NTCS is not a fail. It is an observation. Nobody is obliged to rebuild their house every five years to match the latest standards, whether this is removing thatched roofs or leaded lights, or having twenty sockets in your kitchen. There might however be points which are unsatisfactory or need immediate action or are dangerous, and some which could be made more convenient. Quite likely the earthing will benefit from being upgraded but it is unlikely to be obligatory.

(NTCS = not to current standards)
