Legal searches - how long?

Just that really. How long generally do the legal searches take? We have found our dream house, have a purchaser for ours, no other chain, finance in place, initial enquiries back. Just wondering how long on average the searches take as this is the only outstanding thing.

Can you tell I'm desperate!

For our purchase, the environmental and drainage took about 3 days and local authority search took about 10days. Most LAs have timescales published on their websites.

really varies from la to la. Ask your solicitor what their experience is with yours.

Thanks, just looked on LA website - had not thought to do this as it's a long time since we bought a house. Website says 5 days, solicitors letter says longer.

Are you getting searches direct from the local authority? Not all solicitors do, some use a search company.
