Porch and house painting costs?

Hello,

We live in a Victorian end terrace (essentially a two up two down with a dormer extension) with a front door that opens onto the living room. We have a little money coming our way in a couple of weeks that we plan to spend on home improvements, and one of the things we'd love to do is have the outside of the house painted and a little porch added to the front for coats / shoes / preventing DH from trailing his rugby muck all the way through the living room :)

I can't find a picture online, but I mean something like this, only slightly smaller, and with maybe just one window at the side to let in light instead of on either side of the door:

Has anyone had a similar porch built who could give me some idea of what a reasonable quote is?

We're also wanting to have the house painted white - it is bare brick at the moment with dark wood windows, which I'm not a big fan of. If we have enough money left over I'd love to have a white house with dark wood windows :) Again, I have no idea how much this would cost...

Sorry no idea but where did you get the porch pic from? It's exactly what I'm looking for!

Painting directly onto brick is hard work! You will need a few layers of paint if going white on dark bricks. The bricks will just suck up the first layer of paint. It also takes some energy to get the paint into all the brick texture.

Once painted, it's much quicker the next time you want to repaint in a few years.
