What size tiles for kitchen diner?

We're building a new extension which will house a new kitchen and our dining table. It is 32sq metres. What size floor tile should I go for? I am probably going to buy a polished porcelain in an ivory colour.

60cm x 60cm....lovely but too big perhaps for the space?

30cm x 30cm.....?

Or rectangular 30cm x 60cm?

What would look best?

We have 60x60 cream porcelain in a similar-sized space. They look great!

Thanks for replying. May I ask where you got your tiles from? Am finding it hard to find exactly the right shade.

We have chosen 60 x 60 for ours. We've had the majority of our tiles from Porcelanosa

Definitely the 60x60

We were told that using smaller tiles make the room look smaller, while larger tiles make it look more spacious.

That is what I thought too, but compare small tiles to large tiles and you can see that the large tiles are less busy looking.

Scroll down to the last pic on that second link to see the extreme version of small tiles. That bathroom would give you a migraine!

Agree 60 x 60 will look less busy.

They are listed as super white, but there not as you can tell from the listing.
We ordered a sample of these and the finished edge ones they offer as want to use them for an upstand also. Both are very nice so need to make a decision.
My dh rang him and as we need 40+ sq mtrs got £2 off sq mtr what ever one we go with.

anna the tiles in that link are gorgeous, exactly the sort of thing I'm after. I've seen tiles described as super polished white and dismissed them as don't want white. Will order a sample.

Mme Lindor yes you're right about the migraine on that last pic! Yes I think 60 x 60 is the way to go!

Sorry for late reply. We have quite a large space to be honest but we are putting them in the utility/WC too. They definitely make the room look bigger and what I like about them is there will be less grout!

I had my heart set on polished for months then when it came to it I quickly changed to Matt. But that was because I realised polished didn't go with the other tiles that its adjoin onto in our hallway. Polished are very modern and we have wood effect tiles elsewhere that look like old style floor boards. Polished also need constant cleaning as they show up all marks and drips of water etc which in a kitchen can sometimes be a nightmare

But it's all personal choice at the end of the day! I'm sure whatever you put down will look lovely especially as its neutral
