Storage for bin bags.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 01/05/2013 18:45

We have to use black bags for our household waste and they keep being ripped open by cats and ducks - we live next to a river.

Can anyone suggest a storage thing big enough to fit about three or four full bags in?

I've had a Google and it hasn't really come up with anything decent as I don't know if these things have proper names.

TIA Smile

I think what you might want is something like this:

www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=110&storeId=10151&partNumber=990358

depends on size needed and available, of course.

Could you not get a bin, line it with the bin bag and then knot it and take it out of the bin for your bin collection?

Must be a pain to still be using bin bags.

it is a right pain! id love a wheelie bin.

oh half my post is gone...

we do have the bag in a bin. fill the bag and remove from the bin but then where do we put the bag while we fill the second or third? we fill about three a week. so once the first is full it needs to come out straight away and that's when the ducks and cats get to it.

wheelie bins on ebay

We've finally moved formally to wheelie bins for collection but brought some from Costco a few years ago for storing the full bags for the same reasons.

My in laws have this issue. They have two 'normal' dustbins and anything extra has to be stored in the garage. Not ideal at all.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 02/05/2013 07:24

we don't even have a garden shed we could store them in. we've only lived here four months.

how many bin bags can you fit in a wheelie bin? that's a really good idea Smile

Our wheelie bin holds about 4 big black bin bags.

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 02/05/2013 11:07

do you know how many litres it is?

No idea, it's standard council issue... Looking at pics on the web I'd guess 240L.

MisForMumNotMaid · 02/05/2013 12:44

240l is standard and a big black sack is 60l.

If your local council does wheelie bins elsewhere in county you may be able to get hold of one by emailing the right council department and collecting from depot.
