Feather edge fencing in Garden - one side much darker shade

Hi, would really like some advice, my builder has putup feather edge fencing in our garden on one side the shade is much darker, he reckoned that it was an older batch from the supplier but that it will weather and both sides will match in a short time! I dont know whether to believe him - anyone had this issue or have an OH who does fencing??

Details
Traditional Closeboard, colour brown, feather edge fencing

you surely don't mean the two faces of each board are different colours?

most likely they are different batches. It is normal to treat fences with a water-repellent coloured stain anyway, that will make them match.

Do you mean some of the fence is a different colour to the rest, and not that each side of a single board is different?!

This is totally normal, will just be two batches, the colour varies by how long it is dipped. You should treat it anyway else it will weather terribly. You can get wood treatment in DIY shops.

Having said that, usually for residential jobs, the same batch/a very close match would be used, so can't say I think much to your builder's attention to detail!

Yes it was a surprise, think we will treat anyhow to lose th mismatch between the left side and the right side
