Okay, what do we do now?

We've got our full structural survey back, so should we get 3x quotes for the work that needs to be done?

It's up to you. Depends what you want to get done. If there's anything the mortgage company stipulate then you need to do that. If not it depends whether you want to or not. I don't tend to get three quotes as I use tradespeople I trust and know which is my priority. Cheap can mean headache.

I don't have a recommendation / known builder I'm afraid. So getting a couple of quotes will be the only way I can check that the survey it's estimate is realistic, and will give me an opportunity to check out the builders too.

There isn't anything that needs to be done for the mortgage company.

So what are you going to use the quotes for?

purple, to check the surveyor's estimate is realistic so we don't get any nasty surprises, and (depending on a combination of surveyor's valuation + quote) to possibly submit a revised offer, also to have an actual builder that we could then get to do the work.

I think getting 3x quotes is being very efficient! and it might be a bit annoying for the seller's to have lots of trades around for quotes. I suggest you focus on those things that you would want to solve straight away.

If the quotes are for renegotiating the price, then you only need one or two quotes.

Yes if it's for lots of things, the number of tradespeople could get very numerous if multiplying by 3. Getting the vendor to facilitate that might not be the easiest. Depends how much hassle you/they want. With ours a builder mate looked and gave us some worst case info rather than knowing how much everything would be so then we knew it was viable. I know that doesn't help if you don't have builder mate to do that but thought it might be useful to know approach. For cosmetic/standard things you could work out a ballpark.

Right, 1x (hopefully decent) builder is all I need I think.
