Choosing a letting agent

Has anyone got any tips on choosing a letting agent? Is it better to go for one that is focused just on lettings rather than sales also so they are a more focused specialist? Does it matter if they have a branch in the same town, rather than just nearby, if people tend to look online now? At the moment I may as well just toss a coin so I'm hoping for some more rationale.

It's best to ask around but you can gauge agencies a little to see which has the most properties and if the majority or a large proportion are similar to the one you plan to let. You can also try calling/emailing a few to inquire about one that they have on their books and see how quickly they respond/how well they talk it up etc.
