White walls, oak floor, chocolate coloured sofas.... but what about the curtains?

I know my sitting room decor is a bit clichéd but I like it.

What I cannot work out is what colour curtains to get.

Curtains with cream backgrounds don't look right against the white walls. Should I go for darker brown / caramel coloured curtains? Large pattern or stripes or plain?

I've never yet got a pair of curtains that I've been truly happy Sad with, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you

Do you want brown or would you consider colour? Honestly, your fundamentals are so neutral you can do anything you want. Aubergine? Dark green velvet? Bright pattern? Coastal stripes? Depends on what you like and what the rest of your house is like

You could have almost any colour you like with that very neutral palette. How about going to store that stocks a lot of fabric swatches and see what catches your eye?
