Window box

I would like a window box on the window ledge in front of my sash window. It's sloping, I'm going to have to drill it in so it doesn't fall off aren't I? I'm rubbish at DIY (Yes, even drilling a hole) and don't particularly want to drill into my window ledge but I know it will look pretty! Hmm

Any suggestions of how I can magically stick my window box to my ledge without drilling holes?! Hmm

Put a couple of bits of wood on the outside side equal to the difference in height of the window ledge. Stick them to the window box if necessary, possibly put some rubber things on it to stop it slipping.

I wouldn't drill into a window ledge, tbh.

liara why not? By of causing damage to window ledge?

Yes, I would be worried about putting holes which will subsequently get full of water. Depends on the window ledge of course, but I would not do it unnecessarily.

Is the ledge upvc? As in was it installed as part of the window?

The ledge is, ummmmm, I'm not sure, whatever they made ledges out of in around 1870, something hard like stone or something. The sash windows are all original, so no UPVC.
