Piglet John! Secondary glazing frame help!

The man came yesterday to do the final measuring for the secondary glazing and the actual order is being faxed through now. There's an issue in the upstairs bedroom, the TV ariel has been fed through a hole in the frame of the sash window, where the new secondary glazing frame is going to be attatched to. The company that is fitting it for us ( not the people that are supplying the secondary glazing) have said basically that a section of the frame will be cut away because of the wire. I'm worried about the seal not being tight because of this. I thought the seal was all important with secondary glazing and noise reduction. The man said it would be fine, but I'm not so sure! Should we be panicking around trying to get the ariel moved (I'm assuming through our very thick wall?! )

It depends how flexible the seals are. But if I were you I would try and move the aerial- it shouldn't be a big job- just need a decent drill bit.

Thank you Sausagedog I've phoned my FIl who is coming at weekend to take out aerial from window frame and put it through wall instead! I'm glad that's sorted now

It will be easier to put it through the wall near the TV, so you can take the plug off and poke the end of the cable through, otherwise you will have to cut it.

Poke it through just above the skirting where it will not be in the way.

Have your hoover snout sucking at the hole while it is being drilled to catch the gritty dust.

I was panicking a bit there for a moment. Looking forward to FIL getting it done.

the cable should have a drip loop or a knot just outside the hole, so that rainwater water drips off instead of running in.
