Where are the best places to live around Ayr?

Have a friend who is relocating to this area. We went to have a look and loved Alloway. Can anyone tell me about the best areas to live and best schools - particularly high schools. She can live within quite a wide radius of Ayr so looking at getting the most house she can on a budget of about £350k.

Largs is a nice town. Very outdoorsey- plenty of watersports and yachting etc with the hills and woodlands behind you. Schools are pretty good etc

There are some areas in Ayrshire that are a bit antisocial teenager wise. If memory serves Ayr itself is a bit wild for teenagers up to no good etc.
