Anyone used be Ventrolla (Midlands) for sash window refurbishment?

I've just had a reasonable quote from them and I like the way their system let's you take out the sashes for painting, but I don't know anyone who has used them, so if anyone has any experience good or bad I'd love to know.

If you are in the East Midlands I can recommend these guys trad sash. They use a similar system to Ventrolla, but not as expensive. They were pretty quick (About a week to restore 8 windows) and always left the house tidy and secured.

We used Ventrolla but not in East Midlands and their "refurbishment" didn't actually include painting the windows afterwards

I've had quote from another company nearer us but it's a bit more expensive.

It's the easy sash removal thats interesting me, neither of the quotes included for decoration, so we have a big job ahead of us 10 windows some of them large 12 pane Georgian sashes that will alll need sanding and painting, so being able to remove the sashes would make it much easier.

Eyes - I will look up trad sash and see if the cover Bedfordshire.

Happy dog - are you happy with the worked Ventrolla did? Did you not realise that they don't decorate?

It's worth giving them a shout - they are a small firm and eager to get the business. For what it's worth, they get a lot of business around here(conservation area, so lots of windows to fix!) when they did our windows they sanded back all the frames, cut out and replaced any rotten bits with hard wood (if having windows refurb'd check what they replace the rotten bits with), and put on an acrylic primer so they're ready to paint.

How much is reasonable per window to be refurbished? Also, sorry to thread hijack, but could anyone recommend a company in the East Anglia area?

Eyes - Well their website doesn't mention Bedfordshire but I may call them anyway.

Re cost we were told basic cost of about £350 per window but it's actually coming in more like £500 -£750 because of bits of rotten timber /cills and quite a lot of panes of glass that need replacing.

One window needs a new top and bottom sash so we are looking at new sashes double glazed and it is just under £1000.

Costs are coming in at about £6000 for 10 windows and a set of French doors - all this is without decorating- so £££ really !!!

I'm too in the process of researching the costs of sashes refurbishment and identifying a reputable company to undertake such a job (13 windows!). From what I've found it's more cost effective to use a smaller company. Because their turnover is under £90K their services are not subject to VAT. 20 percent what a relief! Larger companies do offer slightly more competitive deals but when you add the 20 pct it comes to the same 350 per window. Only their work isn't as thorough and meticulous. People say they do okay jobs. Whereas smaller, traditional companies spend an entire day refurbishing one window!
