private renting - where can I find adverts?!

So me and my partner are expecting our first child in September :) We currently are renting a room in a shared house so want to move out asap before I get massive and so we can get our own place ready for when baby comes!
However we are really struggling to find adverts for privately rented flats/houses! We can't go through estate agents as I don't pass their credit checks due to debts from 3 years ago (that I am paying off) and we don't have a garrantour..
We look on Gumtree and in the local gazzette.. But I was wondering if there are any other websites I can look at?
Thanks :)

If your OH doesn't have any credit problems, perhaps he could be the only tenant on the lease (although that could make you vulnerable, so do add yourself as soon as you can)?

I keep thinking there should be property advertised on mumsnet local. Lots of mumsnetters seem to be landlords.

obviously you will make landlords nervous as you have a record of not paying your bills, and no backup, and are about to have only one income. Have a think what you can do to reassure landlords that you can cope. Also don't have pets and don't smoke.

there is no website for properties as such beyond what you have mentioned. Local papers, newsagent windows etc etc.

good luck.

We was thinking that to just have him on the lease but with estate agent you have to earn a certain amount times the rent and just his wages wouldn't cover the requirement! :/

its not bills it was just a payday loan I got when I was 18 and stupidly didn't pay it back then ignored it (stupid I know!) so the interest has built up and I have a 'bad' credit rating apparently :(

I know landlords will be wary.. However we don't smoke, have no pets and I work as a nanny and Will be going back to work after 3 months taking baby with me..

Just seems I need to keep looking in the places I mentioned and hope something suitable comes along!
Thanks everyone :)
