Radiators banging as water moving around them.

We've tried bleeding the radiators, and my husband is trying that again right now, but it seems to make little difference. It's disturbing our sleep as the noises are mainly in our front bedroom. Is the next stop to call a plumber and what is plumber likely to do to solve it?

have you got thermostatic radiator valves? does the noise happen when the room has just reached its preset temperature and they close?

or is it the copper pipes expanding and contracting as they warm up and cool down, rubbing on the joists?

they may need balancing? plumber quoted us £120 to do this but we had a fiddle ourselves after Googling how to do it... and the thermostatic valves can get stuck - unscrew them & spray the pin inside with WD40...
